Share Croppers Noun a tenant farmer especially in the southern United
States who is provided with credit for seed, tools,
living quarters, and food, who works the land, and
who receives an agreed share of the value of the crop
minus charges
New Deal Noun the legislative and administrative program of
President F. D. Roosevelt designed to promote
economic recovery and social reform during the 1930s
Policies Noun a program of actions adopted by a person, group,
or government, or the set of principles on which
they are based
Chairman Noun Somebody who is the head of a group or
committee
United Nations Noun an organization of nations that was formed in
1945 to promote peace, security, and
international cooperation
Cold War Noun the tense but nonviolent relations between the

Bipartisan Adjective Two political parties working together. A

Political Machine Noun a political organization in which an authoritative boss
or small group commands the support of a corps of
supporters and businesses (usually campaign
workers), who receive rewards for their efforts. The
power of the machine is based on the ability of the
workers to get out the vote for their candidates on
election day.
