Gauze: noun; a light, open-weave fabric made of cotton when used for surgical dressings.
Pandemic: adjective; a disease prevalent throughout an entire country, continent, or the whole world; epidemic over a large area.
Quarantined: verb; to put in strict isolation imposed to prevent the spread of disease.
Spared: verb; to save from strain; to restrain from harm or destroying.
Trenches: a long, narrow excavation in the ground, the earth from which is thrown up in front to serve as a shelter from enemy fire or attack.
